A little update on my car since i last posted. I got my head rebuilt by Alex over at Ballade, excellent service there.
I have also purchased Shines ASM front fenders along with ASM rear over fenders and the rear bumper extension for the rear over fenders.
The car is currently with Makito with Seven Apple down in Torrance and should have it back in about 2 weeks which is when i should be receiving my CCW LM20s.
Before I took my car into Makito, I decided to cut my rear quarter panels myself to save Makito some time but to also save myself some money and here are some pics of the process. I know the welds arent the best but the rear over fenders are going to hide them anyways and i just needed to seal it from the environment.
Here's the start of the project:
From here, i mocked up the rear over fender and taped off where the edges of the flares would be. I then made an arc with a metal clothes hanger to know where i would be cutting.
From there, i started cutting the panel with an angle grinder
After cutting the outside layer, it is necessary to cut small sections of the inner to be able to weld the two together. After cutting the sections, i took a hammer and started banging away to close to gap to be able to weld.
Heres the end result with some welding
After applying some primer and some paint so it wont start rusting
And here is the finished product before taking it into Makito.
Stay tuned for when the car is finished and sitting on some new shoes!
