Yes, I remember that article and I believe Chris Harris either wrote it or spoke/wrote of something similar, which got him banned from driving Ferraris for quite some time.
Porsche has always been the "gold standard" for high-performance car tests, showing a total nonchalance by just dropping off a car (and walking away) or not even showing up in person and just letting the testers pick up the car themselves and then take it to the track. That, to me, shows true confidence AND integrity in the testing process, in terms of going "showroom stock".

I know I'm not imaging that.

Yes, they did. Honda bought the GT3 and then sent it in for servicing (they were obviously driving it) and Porsche returned the car with a note wishing them good luck.

Lol that's awesome. Big ups to porsche. The prancing horse to me kinda underwhelms, like in a don't meet your heroes kind of way.

Here's the story re that...
Porsche Left a Cheeky Message On the 911 GT3 Acura Bought to Develop the NSX
"Good luck Honda from Porsche. See you on the other side."

I remember that!! Being a massive P-Car fan, I fell in love with Porsche all over again.

The only shady Porsche car review story I remember is the ZR1 versus Porsche Turbo. The Turbo was trapping crazy trap speeds in the magazine test and during the course of testing the car, the Turbos failed leading many to speculate Porsche had set the car up to run higher boost.
2011 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 vs. 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo Comparison - Motor Trend
Anyway, still love Porsche and waiting for the dealership to call me on my 991.2 GT3 allocation.
Thinking about it, something a little sad for me in this NSX thread, I could easily choose the NSX over a GT3, but I don't want to... For whatever reason, the NSX leaves me cold. It's like a rolling science project and lacks the visceral emotion I would want in a car. I haven't driven one, but everything I've seen and read, it's just a little too computerized and clinical for me. The ZR1 and GT Porsches are more up my alley for fun-car thrills. I hope Honda makes something a bit more analog someday that is fun and exciting...
