I drove a 991.1 c2s the other day and while I got to wind the engine out and the exhaust note sounded awesome, it just didn't feel as engaging to drive as a 997 c2s. The 991 was a PDK but the steering feel was a huge difference maker and the whole car just felt more muted and dare I say "numb" compared to the 997. I know this isn't exactly contributing to the cars discussed in this thread but just thought I'd share.
I've also driven a 997.2 Turbo S and compared to the 997 / 991 RWD variants the front end is more numb, felt significantly heavier, which in turn made the Turbo less eager to turn into corners. But the low speed traction was just hilariously fun. My Z06 right now can spin up to 86mph with 50% tread on the rear tires and 60 degree weather, in southern California.

Haha yes sir, now that my rear tires are balding I'll probably never catch one LOL

I *think* they kept the hydraulic steering till the 991 switchover. The 987/997 rack is practically telepathic, and the feedback it gives is amazing...

Having driven quite a few cars on very twisty roads in the canyons...I have to say that the 997 c2s is one of the most amazing experience I've had. It does not have TOO much power to overwhelm the car when you exit corner at almost full throttle, and the steering / turn-in is just out of this world. I haven't driven a Cayman S / Boxster S but compared to a lot of traditional F/R cars I experienced, the light front end and just magical steering of the 997s was amazing for pointing the car into corners

I also rode with a PCA instructor in an identical one a few years ago. The midrange grunt and stick compared to my S2k was pretty dramatic.
