That could make F1 almost interesting.

Didn't see that coming!

Wehrlein to spend next season trotting round behind Hamilton?

Or has Alonso already been on the phone to Toto?

Somehow I am surprised by why anyone would want to do that, and not surprised that he does it...

Sebastian Vettel or Fred?

Either would liven things up at Mercedes next year and if Toto thought he had his hands full managing Lewis and Nico....

Certainly this livens the driver market up from where it was 30 mins ago when there were 2 seats at Manor and one at Sauber!

He had another 2 years on his contract IIRC, so perhaps the bigger question is why are Mercedes letting him walk away. Every other top driver is signed up, and this leaves them with prising somebody out of their contract or going with someone like Wehrlein.

I suppose they have some clout with the engine customers. Bottas out of Williams, or Perez out of Force India? Could happen.

Contracts are just a pause in negotiations.

Yes but you've got to figure Ferrari would want more money than exists in the world for Vettel, and McLaren aren't going to release Alonso either.

The more I think of it ... Perez. That's my prediction. They could have had the other Nico, but he's signed to Renault.
