Tyre choice for the Focus?
Focus needs new boots.
Don't want to spend a bomb but also do not want to scrimp on cheap tyres as clearly with S experience I appreciate the work rubber does.
It does a lot of mileage on rural roads, so need decent wet performance, but not snow (4x4 will do that job)
They are 215/50/17
What would you guys suggest?

I stuck Uniroyals on the old Seat LeonTDi, handled fine with decent grip, and were reasonably priced.

Yoko AD08R are good
seriously i would look at big brands which are available at the right £
michelins are good but you are more looking for quality construction than outright grip. Buy too cheap and you'll buy twice ime

Whatever you decide, get a quote with Openeo before you buy. I buy most of my tyres from them are they usually unbeatable. Camskill if you want UK based but their prices aren't as good ime.

Oddly enough the old mk5 Gulf 1.9 needed hoops and I researched the best bargain mid range before fitting, considering wet grip, handling, economy, noise. Yesterday I had Avon ZV7 XL fitted in 225/45/17 for 60 quid a corner at Halfrauds.
Camskill sell em at 55 each (without fitting of course). Sticky tyres, quiet and very happy.
Nearest you'll get to ditch finders value, without being ditch finders. 'A' rated for wet grip, 'C' for economy, less than 70 decibels road noise. Try 'em!
