Default Street Legal 2-Stroke Aprilia SXV Project

This custom motard got me motivated to build my own super moto bike. This one was built by Alex Arletti, one of my favorite fabricators, using a custom frame and an RZ350 engine.

Recently, Alex posted some pics of a German-build motard, using an RZ350 engine and frame. I have a bone stock '87 RZ350 in great condition, and started thinking about doing the same thing.

I was searching for a swingarm to transplant onto the RZ350 frame, and I saw the swingarm from the Aprilia SXV. It's one of the nicest swingarms I've seen on any bike, and I just happened to come across a used one, supposedly removed from a zero mile bike.

Just by luck, I happened to come across another ad on the same website for a used SXV frame, also taken off a zero mile bike. These parts are EXTREMELY rare, so I started thinking about getting the frame, too.

Well, I asked a lot of experts about trying to fit the RZ350 engine into the Aprilia frame, and everyone thought it was not the way to go. I decided to give it a shot anyway, so I ordered the frame, swingarm, and a bunch of other stuff which arrived today.

Now seeing what's really up. Looks possible, with the right modifications.

Anything is possible with the amount of modifications you seem willing to take on.

Yeah. Those anodized carb caps are the only thing I've ever bought from them. I'll probably have those caps stripped and re-anodized to remove the text.

I've been visiting the car part of this website and I had no idea that the really interesting stuff was happening on the two wheeled forum. Very impressive modifications! I never seen any thing like this

I want to tuck the engine up into the frame to get the maximum ground clearance. With the downpipes, the clearance is already too little for a supermoto bike - and I don't want the pipes to scrape the ground.

The SXV needs a lot of ground clearance because the suspension compresses a lot. I've seen pics and video of guys dragging the footpegs through the corners (with their feet on them), and they even sell footpeg sliders for this bike.
