how to? mugen spec S2000
could someone detail the difference between a honda s2000 and a mugen s2000?
At a guess I would say the changes are,
air box
exhaust
springs/shocks
ECU
and possibly the colour of the car you buy it in? (mugen orange)
I am wanting to turn my original s2000 into a sleeper style mugen, I am reckoning with picking up the odd second hand part and fitting the bits myself I could pull this off for about 4k GBP? does this sounds possible...

I'm not sure there's such a thing as an "official" Mugen S2000 - in the UK at least. If there is such a thing, it's probably the Mugen race car of which there are various pics in the Gallery and in S2000 Talk. I think it might compete in one of the Japanese championships.
The "Mugen S2000" which Southern Counties Honda sells comes with Mugen exhaust, carbon fibre airbox and manifold. It doesn't have the ECU though.
I've seen various cars on the US board and in mags which go beyond that, complete with CF hardtops, different wheels, big rear wings and even different fronts on the car (Mugen Aero bodykit, I'd guess).
Have a look at the King Motorsport website if you want a list of kit Mugen sells for the S2000.
I think you're right that your best bit is to try to buy used wherever possible - it costs an arm and a leg to buy the kit from Japan or the US and then import it!

Orange isnt necessarily a mugen only colour either. It could be any S2000 colour, it is the perofrmance mods that are different
I suppose you could add Mugen wheels to the list too, oh and the oil and radiator caps

Supers2k is spot on but performance improvement is minimal on the UK "mugen" car.
You need to cut a section out of the bonnet for the CAI which is CF. The airbox is a standard plastic airbox not CF!
Don't get hung on the Mugen name there are plenty of other CAI, manifold and zorst systems out there as good! Remember there is very little extra power to get out of an S engine with out major mods and mega bucks! So you are basically buying a name or a look/sound!?
Most people fit a CIA, if you want LOUD fit a zorst. Other tweaks tend to be geometry, stereo and cosmetics! Consider insurance and warranty what ever you do!

The only possible advantage is that "Mugen" is a listed car for insurance purposes (along with standard & GT). I suspect that may make it easier to insure than a "ricered" car modified with equivalent parts?
If I were to buy another S2K, I would certainly consider that route.
A Mugen ECU would be useable with an octane enhancer and cheaper petrol!
