GM Synchromesh Friction Modified
Just a quick shout out to Gernby and any others involved in finding the GM Synchromesh Friction modified stuff. I just changed over from the Honda MTF today and what a difference the GMSFM makes. Shifts are soooooo much smoother, all of the notchiness in the transmission is completely gone.If you have not done this yet ...DO IT NOW..
Thanks Gernby

Not that I'm having any issues with my tranny and the Honda MTF, but I'd still like to try this stuff when the time comes. I'd be really interested on any "long term" reports of this fluid (like up to a year).
I've probably been using it for about a year now with excellent results. Since I was in the habit of changing my tranny oil every 3K miles before switching to GMSFM, I haven't really figured out how long this stuff lasts. The longest I've gone with one batch of GMSFM was about 12K miles, and changing it to fresh GMSFM (last week) made no significant difference. I'll probably leave this batch in for quite a while.

Tell me: Is this fluid about as thick/thin as the OEM fluid? I'm thinking about my cold winter conditions.

I put this stuff in this weekend and was impressed with the improvement. My car had 3300 miles on Honda MTF since the last change with 8200 miles total. Thanks for sharing this info!!

I don't really know how thick it is compared to Honda MTF, but they both behave similarly in cold weather. The only tranny oil I've tried that was noticeably worse in cold weather is Redline MT-90. If it is below 40 deg. F, you can barely drive it with MT-90.
