Philly Autoshow 2005
Was lucky enough to be in Philadelphia this weekend while they hosted their annual car show, thought I'd post a few pics.
The old favourites....
I don't think I'll change my SL500 order for one of these.....
Dodge Hemi, very gangsta!
Nice little garden centre run about!
I lurve these.........Carrera GT
New Mustang...............
Dream Machines: Vanquish and DB9. The DB9 looked the better car!
The new Range Rover Sport! Didn't draw the crowds, I liked it!
Now for the real action, my fav Yank car has to be the Z06 'vette!
And the star of the show, IMHO! The Shelby GR1, in production 2007 (alledgedly)
Lighter, faster and way better looking than the GT40 which stood next door. 6.4ltr engine, 0-60mph in 3 secs (est) Top speed faster than the GT40! Gonna be $100,000-150,000. Must get my order in.
All in all, it was great to wander around the show, to see the usual Euro cars alongside the US market cars. IMHO the manufactuers with no direction were Chevy, who apart from the fab 'Vette had utter shite for a range of cars. As did Pontiac, Dodge and Chrysler. The manufactuer which is heading the the right direction is Ford, they have a great collection of cars and have obviously got a great Board with good vision. Evidently this year they have the highest number of new models coming into the market than ever before. Their choice of Classic/retro with a modern feel is spot on. The interiors of these cars are in a different league to other yank manufactuers. Ford have got alot of promise which is amazing as I thought of them as being bland, but with Aston Martin, Land Rover, Jaguar, all with new designs in the throws they are the manufactuer I am excited about.
Honda cars without the S and NSX look bland, so I hope the HSC and a new S2 come on-line. Acura had some v smart sport saloons.
Hope you enjoyed the show.

Nice Pics. Thanks Gaz.
DB9 Still the one I'd have above all others.
(Although I'm always a bit partial to big yellow trucks )
