Default SCCA Time Trials

http://www.nwr-scca.org/Race/Solo1/C..._Inaugural.htm

Club Trials are entry-level competition events with instructors present to assist if requested by the entrant. Typically, Solo II car classes will be utilized for this events, with other classes being available.

Club Trials blends 2 types of SCCA events that the Northwest Region SCCA is proud to offer to area car enthusiasts. Club Trials combine elements of Solo II and Club Racing (Road Racing). Unlike Solo II, Club Trials can utilize the same course design each time
for each event, and unlike Club Racing, there is no actual wheel to wheel track competition. Club Trials will give you major seat time in your car on the road course at Bremerton Motorsports Park.

Our friend John Chan is running his S2000 and beating up on almost everything but Z06s.

If I'm around - I may have to give this a try.

Don't S2000's require aftermarket roll bars/cages for SCCA?

My understanding is that the intro time trial events waive the rollbar requirement. I am not sure about these particular events though.

To be sure, ask the organizers specifically about convertibles. Oregon Region is requiring roll bars in convertibles for their upcoming HDPE type event. Convertibles were the only stock cars that were required to have a roll bar.

Good News - according to the link:

Experience in driving SCCA events and other club track events will be considered for entry (this first event will not be open for people who have no Solo II/Track experience or a new driver on the road). Novices that are interested are encouraged to attend the Level 1 PDE scheduled for Friday July 29th first to receive one on one instruction in their car. There will be another Club Trials event on August 13th that you can enter.

Vehicle safety requirements are those used in SCCA Solo II competition. Minimum apparel shall be long pants, long sleeved shirts, and shoes that fully cover the foot at least to the ankle. Additionally, helmets that meet Snell M-90 requirements or better are required. These helmets may be open or full-face style.

Roll bars or cages will NOT be required in those cars prepared to Stock, Street Prepared, or Street Touring specifications as found in the SCCA Solo II rules. Any car modified beyond any part of those rules must be equipped with a roll bar minimum. This includes cars prepared to the Solo II classes of Street Mod, Prepared, or Modified.

Here is an official invite from Mark, the Assistant Regional Executice for Time Trials. He is putting a lot of hard work into this event and really could use a good showing of participants to make his program work.

The Time Trails event is going to offer a good track experience for a very competitive price. I believe the cost will be $100 and may feature some drifting competition!

[I]I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Northwest Region SCCA Time Trials program. The Time Trials Program is a new group of options in SCCA Racing for 2005.

The new Time Trials program structure is composed of four (4) individual event levels. Each level allows the participant to build on their driving skills and track knowledge. The Time Trials program is designed to accommodate all types of cars - from street cars in the first level, instructional Performance Driving Experience (PDE) events to fully prepared race vehicles in the third level Track Trial and fourth level Hill Climb formats. No matter where you are as a driver, each of the four levels of the Time Trials will challenge you by meeting you at your skill level.

If you're a Solo II or Rally competitor and have wondered what it's like to step out onto a road course in a competitive environment, here's your chance! On July 23rd & July 24th, the NWR-SCCA will be hosting its inaugural Club Trials event at Bremerton Motorsports Park.

Club Trials events provide a constructive learning environment that stresses proper driving techniques, while at the same time offering a timed, competitive event at higher speeds than those typically found in Solo II events. Club Trials are entry-level competition events with instructors present to assist if requested by the entrant. Typically, Solo II car classes are utilized for these events, with other classes being available.

Due to event insurance requirements, entrants must be SCCA members. 90 day temporary SCCA memberships will be issued to all non-members free of charge. Entrants that do not hold a current SCCA Time Trials Competition License or higher, are required to present at registration, a Time Trials Participation Log to be able to participate in the Club Trials events. The Participation Log will be returned signed of by the Chief Driving Instructor with any notations at the end of the event. For first time entrants, the Participation Logs will be available at registration.

We can use help to get this inaugural Club Trials event organized. So if you can offer assistance to this event please e-mail or call me.

For the "club trial" on 7/23-24. No roll bar is required and the safety requirements are the same as Solo II. We will add corners to slow down the track below 100mph in completion form for insurance purpose. But I am sure we will need to use at least 3rd and 4th gears. It is the entry level of the Time trial.

Bump

This is going to be a real good event. For those of you who have had a bit of track experience go attend this event for $100. It is a great price for the amount of time spent on the track!
