Default Knowing Ones Place

I've been a little cocky recently, having some fun with a range of different motors and coming out on top again and again. The best one being a 225 TT who was ahead of me at the lights on a motorway junction and floored it. Needless to say I was ahead of him as we joined the motorway at the end of a very long slip road at some silly speed.

Different story today...

I had been following a fairly new STI for some time in traffic. I then notice a older Impreza turbo of description pull out in front of him. A few sneaky moves later and I am along side the older one at the lights, with an empty dual carriage way in front of us.

The lights went green and he ate me alive!

Not sure what speed we hit, but by the time we both slowed for an approaching camera he had pulled a car and half. Hovering through the 40 zone in second, we both floored it and he pulled out a car and a half in no time at all.

I gave the bloke a big thumbs up as we parted - which he seemed to appreciate.

As for the STI, he was no where to be seen.

I used to think my S was quick. Not anymore!

A well run in Impreza (maybe with Pro-Drive pack on) will eat us alive, especially from a standing start

In my reading of this you had a standing start and only lost 1.5 car lengths! That's not bad IMHO if he launched it. To 'quickly' loose 1.5 car lengths on the roll from 40mph however tells a different story. A classic shape scooby would require around 300-320bhp to quickly put 1.5 lengths on an S2k from 40. Or a type-R or RA (both with shorter gearing) would do it with less power.

The problem with scoobys is that a) there are loads and loads of them and b) many of them are modded. From a rolling start the S2000 is generally as fast or faster than most of them.

1.6 no probs
2.0 sport likewise
2000 Turbo is slower
bugeye slower
blobeye slower
RB5 slower
P1 faster (just)
Newish shape STI's about the same
Newish shape STI PPPs faster
old STIs/Ras faster
very old sti's slower/same
WR1 faster
22b faster

and so on. Its a minefield to be honest - you takes yer chances

If you look hard enough you'll always find someone faster / bigger / more blinging!

I was expecting to lose from a standing start, as I'm not trashing my clutch just for a bit of fun. It was the rolling start, from 40 MPH, which astounded me. Def not a standard car!

Does any one on here frequent the Scooby boards too? I'd love to know what beat me. It was a R reg, Black with green "WRX" graphic on the boot lip and driven by an asian chap.

P1 is significantly faster than an S2k.

Only 1.5 lengths, but we did not have that much time before hitting the camera. He also let me have a head start, even though I did not launch the S.

His car sounded very mean too. I reckon he had that 300bhp and then some!

as saxo says with scoobys you never know what is under the bonnet - loads & loads of modded cars about.

at crail recently i was on the 1/4 mile against a 2 door one (P1 orr 22b) and he spanked me big time on the 1/4 mile - knew he would so was expecting it though!

but to offset that i then beat a new sti on the 1/4 mile - guy said he had just got it and wasn't very good at driving it yet - er, push the pedal and hold it in a straight line mate!

S2000 0-100mph = 14.5s less 6.3s to 60 = 60-100mph time of 8.2s
Scooby P1 0-100mph = 12.3s less 4.5s to 60 = 60-100mph time of 7.8s

Faster, but not massively so if absolutely bog standard. My old scooby was P1 fast and the S2000 I played with I could not have passed.

I frequent Scoobynet - I'll let you know if anyone posts an, 'I spanked an S2000 thread '
