Default Stock forged parts?

I read on another post about boost that our rods are forged?
Just wondering if this is true, in fact if it is are there other forged parts?
Just wondering really...

The crankshaft and connecting rods are forged steel.

Aren't the pistons forged as well?

Are you sure about this??? I read on another forum that they were cast and not forged. If this is the case then this is awesome news. Are the pistons forged as well??? I'm a new S2000 owner so I don't know much about the car so forgive me if my questions seem silly.

One last question, just how durable is the bottom end of this motor. Will it hold up to 8-9 lbs of boost with out breaking???

Thanks in advance

Jim

We have forged pistons. They highlight that feature in the sales brochure!

Yup, just found it on the Hondanews.com site. Told ya it was a silly question.
Right from the site:

Coaxial, roller-bearing cam followers
Lightweight, powdered-metal, injection-molded, sintered steel-alloy cam followers
Electric Power Steering system (EPS)
F1-inspired digital instrument panel
High-efficiency, low-back pressure, metallic-honeycomb catalyst
In-wheel, 4-wheel double wishbone suspension system
Impact-absorbing body and frame designed to help protect the driver and passenger in full-frontal, offset-frontal, side and rear impacts

Slows2k is an S2000 "insider". So who do you want to believe? Him or "another" forum?

Why? Why is it "awesome news"? Does it suddenly change anything in your life tomorrow if you find the answer is different?

When we design and build parts for airplanes, we routinely look at all sorts of tradeoffs for materials, manufacturing techniques, suppliers, etc. We go with the ones that make the most economic sense. And sometimes we completely change designs (going from forgings to hog outs, changing materials, etc.) just because a new supplier shows up who offers to do the same job for less money or weight.

It's like sausage -- who cares what it's made of, the thing to be interested in is whether the final result is good.

I've got a Stock crank sitting on a shelf, trust me it's forged. The same goes for the rods.

I don't have a set of stock pistons, so I can't accurately answer that. I wouldn't doubt that they are forged as well, given the high output (stock) of this engine.

The stock engine is quite durable, many are running 6-9psi succesfully with stock compression. Several are using Cometic headgaskets to lower static compression.

Bad tuning with or without boost will still damage the engine. Regardless of having forged internals.

Sorry, I didn't know that. Like I said in my post I'm a new S2000 owner so I don't know a whole lot about the car. If you read my signature you can see most of my other cars have been Mustangs, not Honda's.

I'm still learning so bear with me.
