Having seen the posts of owners that have had wear holes apearing in their hoods and worried about the same happening to mine, I took a look at the area in question on the hood and frame and came up with a possible solution.

It seems the arm that is doing the damage can only do so when the hood is right down and it is pressed against the hood.
Operation of the hood and the movement of the car then causes it to rub against the hood and wear through, possible bigger problem for those with hardtops.

My first idea was to add a piece of black duck tape at the wear point to protect the hood.

Then I made a sleeve to go around the 'elbow' of the frame that seems to cause the problems:-
Added velcro hooks down the edge of a piece of black bass box cloth 12 x 14cm and wrapped this around the elbow.
Looks OK and covers any rough edges

I've had the hood up and down a few times now and the sleeve seems to work fine, stayed in position and tight on the bar.

If you make one put it on wrapped tight on the bar below the joint and then work it up over the joint, seems to be the best way to get a neat tight fit.

The join with the velcro is best towards front of car so there is no chance of it rubbing on the roof.

I've used a special super tacky cloth tape, this is thin and provide's another layer in which the rubbing can wear against. i have covered both the roof and the object causing hte dammage

I've tried to find something similar, like special vinyl roof patches or similar (to use instead of gaffer tape) but haven't found anything - where did you get your cloth tape from if I can ask?

Didn't someone keep an old hood for spare bits of vinyl? I'd like to get in touch with whoever it was

I took mine into the dealer today for the same problem; they said it's the 2nd car they've seen with this problem and they're goin gto talk to Honda to see what's going on.

They think Honda might replace the roof, but its pointless if it's just goin to go again.
