Arrow vtec controller "buddy club"

hi all , just wanted to get some feed back on the merrits of investing in a vtec controller to move the vtec point up and down .

could this have a bad effect on the engine ?

will lowering the vtec hi point improve standing start times ?

what do you guys think ?

thanks paul

Well, moving the VTEC will do naff all for performance.....UNLESS you have tuned your engine so accomodate this change. Lets face it, there are some pretty clever chaps at Honda. I think they could manage to put the VTEC cross-over in pretty much the right place

well that is true but it could be worth a look . and what about if you raise the vtec right up for the moterway , better mpg ??

do honda have to make a trade off ?

Well, i'm pretty sure that it wont actually save you fuel because of the fuel map. Please remember VTEC is there for FLEXIBILITY, not power. At high RPM it is beneficial for the cam profile to change for overall efficiency. I've found the best way of saving fuel, is being easy with the right foot...!

how fast are you driving on the motorway?

you can still easily break 70mph without having to use VTEC..

And the funny thing is that by meddling with it, the chances are you will break it

Theres a few guys IIRC have have installed an apexi VTEC timing cant remember who, but i know for sure someone has on here, do a search mate.

YOu'd be suprised, it doesnt do "alot" of difference, but that depends how you define difference.

With things like this, you need to understand the finer workings of the ECU. Simply putting in a controller wont do much for you at all.

The best results ivse seen are on the Hydra ECU that Indy2000 is running. VTEC @ 4500 rpm and 30 bhp increase over stock IIRC. That ECU cost about

Ben (cardiff) when he had his S had the following mods :

De-cat
ARC Exhaust
Injen filter
Apexi Vtec controller
Remapped ECU

He had it Dyno'd at 259bhp if i remember correctly.

His was an import so had more than UK spec as standard but a good result non the less.
