Replace your review mirror with a monitor
Ok we talked about this last month and the month before. Well the time has come. I'll be starting the GB in a few days. The Group Buy will have 2 options.
The first one will have a high end screen and camera and the second option will have a mid range screen and camera. I'm planning on using Alpine touchscreens for the high end and a Lilliput touchscreen for the midrange.
For those that haven't seen the setup, I have it installed in my car and I love it:
I don't have pricing as of today because I'm working on pricing for the Lilliput screens. If you have a screen that you would like molded PM me for a price for it.
I'm going to put a copy of my post below here just to keep all the info in one post:
"Just to answer a few Questions here, these are in no real order:
- This setup will allow you to have a better view of whats behind you as you can install a wide angle camera. I have this setup and love it. You can back up to within an inch of a wall or the car behind you.
- You can hook up a Navigation to the screen and use it for that as well. Keeping it hidden and safe from prying eyes, as its up and out of view. If you ask people that have seen mine with the top up it very hard to see it, so it much less likely to get stolen.
(However you should hook up a camera for the rearview because you must remove the rearview mirror to install this.)
- Or anything that needs a screen DVD player or Playstation perhaps
- The Lilliput screen I'm looking at is the HR702-NP/C/T. But I'm still waiting to here back from Lilliput to see if I can get a good enough deal on them. But it is a great screen.
It looks like the molded section is going to be a little more the pillers. The cost for just the molded screen should you have one will be $450. But given the fact that most indash molded screen setup have been know to cost $700-1200 bucks depending on the shop, I think $450 for just the molded section is fair for a GB.
Once I get a fix on which screens will be used I'll post the cost for those as well. The cost of the molded section will be $400 if your also buying the screen from Kinetic as well.
Keep posting those questions
Thanks for the interest everyone :tipshat: "

Navi can come with it. I have a PS2 hooked up to mine besides the rearview camera. My S isn't a daily driver so I don't have navi in my car be is can be added anytime by just pluging it in.

HOTNESS!
John - What model Lilliput screen are you going to go with? I am going to start looking around eBay, as I have quite a few gift certificates from xmas that I need to get rid of . What will the molded panel cost? Similar to the A-pillar tweeter ones (~$250ish)?
Thanks!
