The OBD2 protocol requests information about readiness monitors in a 1 byte message from the ECU. Each bit represents the various systems like 'O2 Heater, Catalyst, SAP' etc. The ECU either sends a 0 or a 1 for each system. The code for this is easily traceable once you have the project up in IDA as you can just search for the OBD2 command for this in hex. I can't remember off the top of my head but it's Mode01 I think. Anyway, you can then easily modify this code and upload it to the ECU. For example, on late 90s BMW ECUs I figured out that I could just 'comment out' a line of code that writes to this byte when something goes wrong. So, I just prevented the ECU from ever reporting an 'unhappy' status, lol.

I post as 'mrf582' over there...

Anyway, K-Tuner has done the same thing here. Hondata doesn't want to because of liability reasons. I wish they had a 'race only' version though so there would be no reason to buy K-Tuner.

I think you misunderstood my comment. It was aimed towards if there was a true problem the codes wouldn't disappear

Why not? If you can upload a different binary to the ECU you can change the code as I described. Then the readiness indicators would always say ready no matter what.

So, if there was a problem, you wouldn't want a readiness code?

Well, great for you. I guess it depends on the person and build. For me, this time around for my street car, I preferred to use the ability to populate code(s). With my old race ready gsr I didn't care as many of the code triggering components where removed.

So there is a big difference between a DTC and Readiness Monitor. I want the former functional but not the latter.
