OEM radio relocation pics
Hey guys. Since I have installed a few gauges where the radio used to be, I have been looking for a spot to relocate the radio to. My original plan was in the trunk somewhere, but having completely stripped down the truck the other day looking for a clean place to install it, I just didnt think there was anywhere where it could be mounted without looking like some hack-job. After trying a few places, here is my new mounting spot, inside of the secret compartment. While I do agree it isnt the most practical solution, the only time I really need access to it is for changing CDs, and that can be solved with the installation of a CD changer. I think it looks pretty clean now, but I may finish it off later but surrounding it with some plastic to really make it look OEM. For those wanting to do this, you do need to cut out the bottom of the secret compartment to allow the radio body to sink down through a few inches for lid clearance, but not so far as to interfere with the spare tire. I just pulled the antennae wire through and extended the factory radio harness about ~6' or so, and routed it where the antenna wire ran, which is along the passenger side tranny tunnel, and into the trunk area. Anyway, just a few pics for anyone interested:
