Default Aftermarket radio draining battery

Bought my 06 with "questionable" wiring for the radio, if I don't drive the car every 4 days, battery dies. I've had the battery checked at auto zone and it's good. I'm going with the radio as the problem because sometimes when I start the car, the radio will be on AM tuner when I left it on CD, and other weird things... Basically what I'm asking here is does anyone have any tips, experience with changing a radio out in our cars?? I have changed out a few in my day so I'm not new to it, just seeing if there's anything unexpected I should look out for.

Any particular brands people recommend??
Any I should stay away from??

This is an ancient post, but it sounds like they have the 12+ V constant and 12v+ switched wires reversed, more than it being a brand issue.

All good now. Bought a new Optima battery, yanked out the bullshit wiring and rewired it myself. Works like a charm now
