Default HKS SSM - 1st impressions

So after going through different exhaust systems, my old ears finally gave in and I got rid of my EVS70. In no way was the EVS70 really loud, its not bad actually, but to my old ears I guess I was getting sensitive to noise. So on to shopping for a new system. I was looking at getting another set of Fujitsubo Legalis R or Mugen exhaust. Also considered ASM 70 but didn't want to deal with that damn resonator rattle. Then also looked into AMUSE euro but I'd have to wait for months and also shell a lot of $$$. I have always been interested in the HKS SSM. there were no local people running these, and not a lot of reviews on here. So I was going off of youtube videos for the sound. The piping layout of this exhaust always intrigued me.

*I'd like to thank Josh @ Kamispeed for the great and swift purchase.*

Onto the unboxing

And initial startup and Rev video from iPhone 6.... HKS SSM * Berk 63mm HFC

Video of the car on the Dyno.

Conclusion:
I am very satisfied with the system. It is what I was looking for. More tone and sound rather than loudness. And I can say there is zero drone on this one no matter how I drive it. The craftsmanship of the exhaust is excellent and the fitment was excellent. It comes with everything needed for install included new rear hangers since the oem AP2 triangle ones won't fit. I will come back and do a long term review once I put some miles on this and break it in but so far so good. It may not be a power exhaust but it's ok, the s2000 isn't a power car anyway. But I did notice better low/mid range response is better with this over the EVS70.

*Update* 7/6/16 - installed test pipe - post # 93

I love the look of that exhaust, and I think it sounds great. Nice mod.

Thanks. The look definitely attracts a lot of people. I still prefer single wall tips but we can't have it all I guess. Sound was a gamble because it's hard to go off the few YouTube clips there is available. But I'm happy with the sound.

Always thought that was a cool exhaust. Is this the same idea as the ASM siren exhust that doesnt have any sort of packing in the mufflers to break down and change tone after time?

Thanks for the review! It looks and sounds great, but seems to hang a little low though.

I was wondering the same thing but could not find any information if it is or not. As much as I wish it was like the ASM / AMUSE design of no packing, I think there is. Just because of looking at the price point. Those exhausts with no packing inside cost $3000 +. But I may be wrong. If anyone has any information on this please speak up.

YW, it may look like its low but It's not really that low. That rear shot was taken from the ground so it gives that illusion. H
Here is a shot about waist high for reference.
