Nitrous Guide..A good place to start if you're looking into nitrous

quick question about ignition timing with nitrous. Is it correct that with nitrous you would want to retard the timing for better performance / reliability? Reason im asking is Ive got a GReddy EMU that has advanced ignition timing in the tune and am not sure if that would be helpful or hurt the car when it came to spraying.

I wish I could help more on that question man, but i'm honestly not sure. If you have an e-manage I think you can switch between maps on there, and you will definetly want to go get a tune with the nitrous. So it would all be up to your tuner on that. If I remember right you could easily just switch between your NA and nitrous maps which would be the best.

Ya, that would be the best, however there seems to be literally zero tuners in the Texas/Oklahoma area that is willing to deal with the GEMU
I talked to a friend of mine though who ran nitrous on a 6.0 GTO and is now spraying his Pontiac G8. He said the general rule of thumb is that you want to pull ~2 degrees of timing per 50 shot you run, and that its even more important for cars like ours because of the fast engine speed. He's always been a pretty reliable resource when it comes to questions Ive had, but take it for what it is

Yeah that's exactly why I never got the e-manage, can't find anyone to tune it near me.
Well we can run a 75 shot no problem on stock timing and everything, it's safe. If you're going to do anything more than that you just need to get an EMS and get it tuned properly for it, and get direct port.

U can run a 75 shot on stock timing or u can spray a 100 shot and retard 4-5 degrees. But the more timing u take away u make less power. So i choose to spray 75 shot on pump gas or i can run ms109 fuel and pick up a little more power.

Im going to look into this more, Ive got a friend who has a zex wet kit with brand-new 50 & 75 jets, a new a purge kit, and an extra 10lb bottle.. offering it to me for a more then reasonable deal, I'll most likely take him up on it. I've also got a set of 4.77 gears waiting to be sent to be put together in a diff by PuddyMod. Hopefully that combo can make for a fun summer in my 01!

sweet man. Juiceds2k had a 75 shot with 4.77's and ran a 12.6 in the 1/4 mile. Should be plenty fun!
EDIT: I just read he ran a 12.98 @ 112 BONE STOCK except for the 75 shot.
