OEM hardtop on eBay. Authenticity check.

I have never seen a fake aluminum oem hardtop, so if it is aluminum then it will be OEM Honda, just make sure you get all of the parts - rear catchers, rear latches, front latches, defrost wire etc.

I don't even think there's fake metal ones (not just aluminum).
I know there's many metal 3rd-party body parts for Civics, Intergras and other car makes/models (I had a 3rd party hood for my EG back in the day...fit perfect and was only like $150 vs $600 oem)...but I don't think there's any 3rd-party metal hardtops.
If there was, I'd definitely buy one instead of a CF or fiberglass one, because I'd bet the fitment and price (and solidity and insulation) would both be nice. Yes, slightly heavier; but it should be 5x cheaper at about $500 I'd bet. I'd def buy one for that price.

There won't be another metal option. Let's say I have the equipment that can accommodate the very large stamping dies, AND I somehow convince Honda to sell me their dies, or I spend a goddamn fortune having new ones machined out of giant blocks of tool steel. You think I'm charging $500?
If somebody did it, the price would probably be higher than what you see now. And it still wouldn't be worth it because the market is probably a few hundred at best.

I would wait and try to find one locally. I came across several in the Bay Area going for around $2,800...one even went for $2,500 (I know right?!)
Never bought anything that expensive on Ebay, I would check the seller's reputation/reviews before making the decision.

Please be cautious with those OEM HT selling for $2500-2900. If the ad doesn't look right and your interaction with the seller doesn't sound right, trust your gut.
It's a seller from Modesto who has been spamming Craigslist and Facebook classifieds with stolen OEM S2k HT, and in the past Miata HT.
If anyone who is tempted the cheap price, you're just fueling the thief to find more examples to steal.
Cheers,
Alex

Your better off finding examples from original owners at a decent price $3300-3500 before Rick does.
