my mat and i were enjoying the calm dual carriage way over the christmas period.. he has an estoral blue 53 plate e46 evo m3..... so we decided to fool around.... on three runs i had 1 and a 1/2 car length on him from a dig..... my car only has an apexi filter and a single exhaust which isnt decatted.... kinda suprised... GOTTA LOVE HONDA!!!!

No, I got utterly annihlated by one a few years back in a pretty standard S2000. Once we hit about 60 he just left me. It was in a straight line though, which is pretty pointless. They are quick cars. He also had his roof down which made it worse
Things would be different now though

and breath mate...
...
As MB says they are pretty damn quick, imo even a tuned n/a S would struggle in a straight line. So doubt he was trying.
You'll only have a chance boosted, a stock sc 5psi SC can keep up with one.
I'm not going into my encounter but i left one pretty easily.
Be careful out there though.

Raced an E46 M3 - I was quicker but he wouldn't move over
I wouldn't fancy my chances against an E36 M3 Evo, they're lighter than the E46 and only marginally down on power.
Got thrashed by a Cooper S though, so it's not all good

i had a chase after an e36 m3, they're no quicker than a stock s2, on long fast straights i had to back of very lightly as i didnt have power to overtake but otherwise id be pushing him along it ended with me thinking this is getting stupid as were hitting silly speeds and turning off. Maybe his wasnt as quick cos of it being old...i dunno, but it wasnt that great.
Also tried chasing an e46 m3, they're quicker, not as much as id expected, but pulled a good car length or more on me on a single straight of a quarter mile long or so....very cool. The weight between the 2 is less than 100kg difference i think.

I own both cars, the e46 M3 will walk all over a standard S2000.
Anyone who thinks they have 'beaten' an M3 in a standard S2000 is dreaming. They may have out driven the driver of the other car, or the M3 might just have been playing, not racing.
