A few weeks ago I'm at the local stomping grounds where me and my friends go to do work and mostly spectate a little street beef..

So I'm chilling talking to a few of my friends who just ran and this guy comes up to me and I notice the guy he walks up with owns the black cobalt ss that I slaughtered months ago.. So he asks me if I'm the one that beat his friend that night.. And I smirk and reply yes.. That was me.. And continue to talk.. So anyways he taps me on the shoulder and says "I'd like to run you and show you what a stage 2 ss can do" I didn't know what the stage 2 package included so I was like "ehhh.. If you really want to" so he says "yeah lets line them up.. I should be able to handle you I've ran 14.0s at the track.. At this point I'm like well he's a cocky little guy now isn't he so I walk over to my car and drive up to the line with him..

And this is how it went..

He said he had a bad launch on the first run so he asked for a redo.. And normally I don't like racing back to back.. But I knew I spun a little more than usual so I wanted to give him what he wanted..

Well since my links to that race don't work..

Here's my race with a ex35 or whatever that infinit truck is with the vq35de is.. (this was before my K&N FiPK & ingalls stiffy)

it doesn't make sense though...a non hr Z is a good race for an s2k right? If this is true a non hr Z should stomp us

I beat it in the 1/4 mile but it has a better power band and is better geared for what we did..

We ran from a 60 roll and at 140 it was still right beside me.. With the top on and windows up.,

I've beat a few non HR z's

The HR's are killers though..

I mean it could have been a vq35hr but I don't remember it was a rental from Infiniti so idk what year it was..

An FX35, pre 2009 (280hp), trap around 90mph in the 1/4 mile. The 09+ with the VQ35HR (303hp) trap around 95mph in the 1/4. Neither should be an issue for you or any S2000. There is also an FX45 with a 4.5L V8 (320hp I think?) that is similar to the HR. The new FX50 with the 5.0 V8 traps low-mid 100s and probably makes somewhere under 400hp and will easily beat an S2000.

I know trap speeds don't mean everything in a roll race, but I can't explain why a DE or HR FX35 would do that to you. Only thing I can think of is you mistakenly didn't shift at redline and were out of your powerband.

It's definitely a combination of:

1. Your driving (not saying you suck or anything, just a few bad runs).
2. Top down
3. Airbox lid off

I looked up the FX35 and it's drag limited to 137mph. Not very good up top.
