For the record I owned a k20a2 civic that weighed 2500 lbs (about 300lbs less than an SI. I had I/H/E and a tune and it made 201whp on a dyno where my stock 06 AP2 made 211whp and my slightly modded 01 AP1 made 208whp. It was easily faster than both my S2Ks.

I am not saying the S2k is slower than a stock si, all I am saying is it isn't that much faster.

What is wrong with you guys? The OP was just posting about a run he had with a Civic SI. Pretty sure none of you guys were there so why is everyone arguing about what went down? The new S owner had a nice run and was sharing his experience. HP and TQ and number of passengers and condition of the cars are all variable. Someone could have missed a gear or wasn't comfortable redlining their car or the OP could have a factory beast that puts down a bit more power than expected.

I enjoyed the post and it reminded me of the feel of hearing someone say nice ride for the first time in my life. ...also in an S. Welcome to the group and enjoy the ride. Its not the fastest or the most expensive one out there, but even when i was stock it has put the most smiles on my face than any of my own or my friends cars ever have.

I previously had a civic type R, the s2000 is definately a bit quicker, not massively but enough also had a dc2 integra type R, Again the S is quicker. My brother currently has a dc5 integra R, my S is a little quicker than that too.
From what i understand is that your SI's are the 'equivilent' of the type R. Wannabe's, but not quite as good.
After owning or atleast driving all 3, the fact is the S is quicker than them. The dc5 integra R is the closest match from the other honda's.
A new japanese spec fd2 civic R would probably have the S struggling.......possibly

I dont think the s2000 at the end of 2nd gear will be 3-4 car lengths ahead of anything. Yes, the s2000 is faster. But from the story, an SI goes first, then s2k redlines 2nd. I just find it crazy how its 3-4 car lengths ahead. Unless I am reading this wrong.

stock s2000s are painfully slow.
A bit harsh? I've never heard anyone describe the first gen NSX is a "painfully slow" car and it puts up the same numbers as the S. The S is 14 years old and is still quick enough to keep up with a six speed, 2013 V6 Accord coupe.

Not at all. S2000s were never made to be straight line monsters, and so are not unless modded to do so. My 08 lost to a lexus gs f sport with 2 passengers and a driver. 2nd gear through 4th. That thing walked the hell out of the s2k and it's HEAVY and not that fast. A 14 second quarter mile is far from fast. If you think a stock s2000 is fast, you haven't been around enough truly fast cars.

Now, put it through corners and if course it's a different animal.
