new camry xle? who knew.
Sooo long story short.... The new xle v6 is fast. I was on a highway nearby recently and got rolled up on by a Camry speeding like a bat out of hell. Teenage driver handicap license plate... Probably grandpas whip however the kid kept revving and slowing down and speeding up.... So I downshifted to 4th at 60 not thinking this Camry would be a big deal and he would leave me alone after... Not even close. He floored it and caught two lengths on me... Around the time I shifted into 6th I let off..whenever I pulled back to even. We merged onto a different highway and he got along side of me again... So third this time at 60... Pulled on him immediately and kept the distance til we both let off. That thing was quick. I immediately started pricing forced induction..... Haha

It really should be no surprise... These cars are not fast in a straight line. My rental Highlander in Colorado last week sunk me in my seat harder than my S2000 here at 900 ft ASL.

Well i dont care if going straight is not the s2000s strong point. If I almost lost to a camry id be pretty sad too. Id rather have the best of both worlds(straight and turns). Ill take a turbo s2k please.

On my first track day with the S2000, this was my instructor and he took me out for 2 sessions in his 4-banger Camry SE rental at Summit Point Shenandoah.
My background to this point: 5 years autocross and 3 track days in my old STS prepped RSX-S, 4-5 autocrosses in an S2000, so I'm not completely ham-fisted behind the wheel
My best traffic-free laps were right about 1:50. ~1:45 is a good time for a stock S2000. I realize Jack is a much more experienced and talented driver than I am, but given that with more power, grippier tires (RS-3s), less weight, and a better suspension and chassis, all I could muster was 4 seconds on a 4-cylinder Camry says something about the handling capabilities of the car.
