Sc S2k Vs. Modified Evo 8 And Cobra
Well I took the S2k out last night with my two friends, one who has a modified EVO 8 with full titanium exhaust, downpipe, cat delete, and drop in filter. The other, has a stock newer body non-supercharged Cobra. My mods are a comptech supercharger, T1R exhaust and test pipe.
To the race: We lined up at 5 times at 40, 60 - 150 mph pulls on an empty highway. The Cobra and I both had one passenger, and the Evo had none. All pulls were basically identical. I would pull slightly on both the evo and the cobra up to 150 where we shut down, but they weren't ever more than a 1 car length back at the most. My friend in the Evo said he was slightly pulling at 140 on the cobra.
This suprised me as I thought I would have at least put more car lengths on the stock cobra? I do have a slipping clutch but would it make that much of a difference? I didn't know the stock cobra's were that fast (I know the SC ones are). Anyone think my SC isn't 100% or is this the way most SC S2k's pull on stock cobra's? He ran at the track, and said he ran a 14 flat at 103 with not much traction. Just curious thanks!

That sounds about right. When I just had the stock SC setup I would pull on the newer Cobras, but not by much. You're clutch will be history soon! My clutch didn't last maybe a month. With the oher pulley you will add 40 to 50 hp, which will smoke both of those cars. Good luck!

You might wanna get your S/C tuned. Most people think S/C are plug-and-play, in a way it is, but it can be tuned to run stronger. Some S/C run weak until it is rightly tuned.
Now here's the ever so repetitious, yet very important question: was your top up or down? If down, that sounds about right. If up, you should've pulled on that Cobra more, even with a passenger.

my top was up, but with both windows open. What exactly would i tune my SC with, can I do anything with the setup comptech supplies? Or would I have to use an AEM EMS, etc?

I would think he would pull alittle more on the Cobra considering that he should be trapping 2-3 mph higher then its 103 mph speed.
Sirrach- What does your S trap in the 1/4 mile? AS far as tuning goes I would think that the fuel curve and timing should be tuned on a dyno to give you more hp or at the very least make the car run more efficiently.

off topic, wat do u guys think about the 9psi vortech kit for s2k against mine GT with Kenne Bell 9 psi?
A KB 9psi for Gt is putting out 405 rwhp and 427 torque.
edit: the reason i asked cause' before somebody on this forum said that stock for stock, or modded for modded, GT is no match for S2K

hmmm well I'm not to much of a Mustang expert. What are stock gears? The S2k on 9psi SHOULD, if properly tunned put out AT LEAST 350 rwhp...now if you also put 4.77 gears on the S (stocks are 4.10's) then I see no reason why it shouldn't beat you since it weighs in over 400lbs less. Low end, and at the start, you'd probably eat an S with all your torque...but in the longer run, the S would have you because of the better HP/Weight ratio.

wat do u mean in the long run?
i am talking about 1/4 mile here.
have any of you guys with Vortech been to track? if so, wat is best you guys can do?
BTW, 10 hp is about 100lb.
if u said the best tune s2ki with vortech at 9psi is 350rwhp, and it has 400lb less. Meanwhile mine with 400rwhp, so i still have 50 rwhp advantage, and i dont know how many torque i have over you guys. i have 3.73 gear, and u said if the s2k with a vortech 9 psi and 4.77 gear will beat me. There is something that doesn't add up
BTW, this is just a theory, i plan to go to Sacrament Raceway this Wed. i ll find out wat best i can do with my new set up. people with the same as my set up has do best 11.7@117 mph. for more info: www.modfords.com on the Kenne Bell tech forum
Edit: here is the dyno on Kenne Bell website for a stock GT with just catback + KB9psi
