Hi everyone,

New AP1 buyer here, looking to get a fun car raw car to drive for 12-18 months until I move. I have a daily and am in the market for an AP1.

2000 AP1, 213k miles asking $7200

Any advice on this buy? Looks decent in the pics, just wanted to get opinions before I make the big drive to see the car!

I once saw a 300lb hooker trying to charge $500/hour. Maybe she was worth it, it was Amsterdam.
The used/collector car market is in a bubble. This car is probably worth the new car price with less than $1k miles, but I'd rather have one with 20k on it for $10k less. Cars are meant to be driven!

Whats the point?

Also what was the original owner hoping for, in keeping the miles so low? The MSRP of the car was around $32,000, and there was a very good chance they paid a few grand more in dealer markup. So now they hope to sell it for $35,000. According to inflation calculations, $32,000 in 2000 has the buying power of $45,905 in 2017. I can't think that not driving a car for 16 years or so had to be a fun way to gain no additional value.

I know I sound like a broken record, but buying one of these and not driving it with the hopes of selling big, may not be a great plan. Sure Supras and NSX's go for top dollar, but those also started life as markedly more expensive vehicles.

I may certainly be proven wrong, and as someone who loves the s2000 and making money, I hope I am wrong, but I think it is still at least 10-20 years till we start seeing BIG money.

That said, it does seem like any S2000 under $10,000 is going to have issues? So prices are holding strong, if not creeping up.

KBB doesn't mean much with these.
Def agree. This should sell quick depending on your area. Here in NJ/NY, this would be sold real quick at that price and mileage. I purchased a similar car for around that price. I was the 2nd guy who called after the ad was posted for just an hour. Good luck.

I agree with this. My approach was to buy at about 10K miles for fair price with the hope that I can drive it for 50K over 5 years or so and not lose much, if anything. I paid 21K for an 02 with 8.5 k miles INCLUDING oem hardtop. Rough guess that is about the equivalent of 18K for the car only. I might have paid a bit too much maybe? I recognize that. It will be interesting to see what it brings after 50K more miles.

I think it'll sell quickly at that price.
