A few days ago I bought...
A Nissan 350Z!
I have been talking about these for a while but have now decided to go and get one.
2007, 61k miles, silver, leather, all the toys inside (AC, permium bose stereo, subwoofer, electrically adjustable everything etc etc).
You're looking at about £9-9500 and I got it for a bargain. The previous owner drove it as her commuter vehicle for a 2 mile total commute. It has done 15k miles in the last 3 years!
What a fantastic car!
Bit about them for the uninitiated:
3.5 V6 came in three varieties VQ35DE (280bhp), VQ35DE RevUp (inlet and exhaust timing - 300bhp), and the VQ35HR (80% new engine HR=High Revs 310bhp).
Brembos all round (unless you got a budget version)
6 speed box
Viscous LSD (unless you got the budget version)
Rear wheel drive
18" Forged Rays alloys (unless you get the budget version)
2 seats only
The version I have is the VQ35HR GT so it has everything
I bought this for travelling to client sites when I need to because I commute and travel by train when possible.
It needed to have a bit of poke but be comfy with a nice sound system.
It delivers all these in spades
Since we all have been S2000 owners, I'll compare it to that:
The engine is entirely different. It makes a great noise, but is very tractable so no need for screaming heroics
The gearbox is...ok. Obviously the S2000 has possibly the best shift ever from a manual box. The engine, 13kg flywheel and shift action mean you can't rush a change, you have to be smooth, but then it does work.
The VLSD is not as good a torsen unit IMHO.
Handling, again, it's not an S2000, but that doesn't mean it can't be hustled about. It corners flat and responds very well for a car its size. It certainly can do the whole track thing, but as standard it's a GT car.
But for the price and if you compared it against an 07/08 S2000 which is getting on for £3-4k more than this in comparable spec, you'd be daft not to consider one.
The only sort of downside is the tax at £515/yr, but if you're going to get anything nice these days, expect to be hit with it!
I'll keep those remotely interested updated

Good choice. I like a 35 ounce - it was a bit of a return to form for the Z-Cars after they all turned rather "chest-wig" after the iconic 240Z.
I guess from what you said that you won't be modifying it then?

I have just bought a few things for it - new performance discs and pads all round, engine/box/diff oils, sparkplugs, wipers, new tyres all round (there was a different, albeit premium, tyre on each corner), a stainless exhaust (nout fancy and nothing obnoxious), and induction kit. All that was the best part of £1200 which is bloody cheap when you think about it! To bring it bang up to date, it does need a new headunit so I'll probably splash out after the service.
Oh and a new gearknob makes things muuuuch better

If the front control arms haven't been done, they'll need doing soon
uk350z is a pretty good forum

Also like these, particularly in 'that' blue. Didn't fancy the ragtop?

Looks nice, out of interest, were the front tyres on it (from the pics) correct size? they look a little 'thin' in the sidewalls? Irrelevant as you have replaced, just curious
Nice motor. I'd consider if didn't need to get the kids and a dog onboard...
Enjoy.
