Monthly SoCal Meet. Angeles Crest Run
Since the other thread is getting so long I wanted to post this thread with the basic info about this meet.
WHO A bunch of SoCal S2000 owners who have or will pay $15 for the delicious food and beverages supplied by Raptor! Or that are brings something.
WHAT Are going for a nice long drive, and enjoying a wonderful BBQ at Raptors
WHERE Angeles Crest Highway/ BBQ at Raptors
3940 Mayfield Ave
La Crescenta Ca 91214
WHEN Meet up at Raptors at 7;30am and roll out at 8:30am
WHY If you need me to answer this question don't come

* If you have 2-way radios, bring them.
* If you want to go or can no longer make it please respond to the original thread. (See my sig for link)
* FILL UP YOUR TANK BEFORE YOU GET TO RAPTORS
Thanks again to
Raptor for letting us use his house for this, because of the turn out I have to call it an, EVENT.
KT for doing all she has done to make these monthly meets a success.
FSures for mapping this and the last event.
July is going to be another great drive (Team Irvine is going to like it), and we will not have a meet in August because TITS is organizing a great event. In September the Monthly meet will be the MADD About Driving Event that will be a local 1 day drive.
See everyone on Saturday.

good idea recapping the info in another thread, kuni.
i'd like to reiterate here that we're going to split up in groups based on driving expectations/experience in order to keep it safe and make sure everyone has a good time. i cannot emphasize safety enough and for those of you that don't hang around the boards too much, the reason why this is more important now is because 1) we've lost 2 socal S's since february during group meets and 2) this is a huge group so things can easily get out of control.
here's some simple guidelines that would be good to keep in mind:
1) on the crest, get your braking done in a straight line and do not enter a turn faster than you KNOW your car can maintain for the entire turn
2) if 1) is done properly, you won't have to brake or slow down thru the turn, which is safer for the car behind you, and is the right driving technique for this car anyway (slow in, fast out)
3) pay attention at all times to what the car in front of you is doing and be prepared for sudden stops (i almost got rearended on the last run because i slammed on the brakes to avoid the crashed S and all the people scampering around in the road and the driver behind me wasn't paying attention)
4) keep your distance
5) no passing on double yellow and thru blind turns (i'm actually surprised we didn't lose more than just one S on the julian run)
6) please don't jeopardize the safety of another S2000 driver
7) focus on being safe, not on staying with the rest of the group or showboating your wicked driving skillz
that's all i can think of for now. sorry if i sound bossy but this drive is starting to worry me.

Heed what KT says. Angeles Crest is an ULTRA HIGH ENFORCEMENT region. Weekends bring out all the stops as far as the CHP is concerned. I'm not trying to scare anyone, just again letting everyone know that they give BIG tickets on this hwy. 40-S2000's will draw quite a crowd.
Hmmm... The original thread says we're meeting at 7:30, rolling at 8:30. Despite not being a morning person, I personally prefer this earlier time so that we can get on the roads earlier. Is there a reason you changed it to 8am instead? Seems kinda late to be leaving by 9am.
One more thing, you might wanna make a bigass glaring comment that we all need to completely tank up by the time roll-out time rolls around. Not something to be taken lightly -- usually some people will forget (especially in a big group like this) and we will all end up waiting for them to take 20+ minutes to go to the gas station, fill up, come back to Raptor's place.

Once we start driving I will be OK
