Default Anyone Use an Outdoor Car Cover - If So What brand ?

If you had a car outdoors that sat for a week at a time , is it work keeping a car cover on it ?, if so what brand would work through all conditions , summer heat, rain and winter weather ? If it's not a good idea then I'll just keep the car exposed I guess, no room in the garage for everything, thanks for any replies.

My 2000 Civic has been a daily driver for its 17 years. No car cover or garage- just relentless undercoating touch up and car washes.

my s2000 is always at a place of honour in the garage.

Ditto, I had a 2000 Minivan for 14 years, 360K. Never garaged. Would sit every so often for a week at a time. Undercoated every year for the first ten years of its life. Waxed annually. Never thru a car wash, hand wash or winter power washed when possible at above 0 celsius. Never covered. No rust, other than minor surface bubbling which had not broken thru the paint. Had a bidding war on it when I decided to sell. Sold for $500 over asking.

Thanks for the replies, my main concern was UV ray damage but I guess there are ways to reduce that with detailing. My car has the optional rustproofing package with a pretty decent warranty on surface and body panel rusting so it should hold up.

Darcy your SiR is certainly a good example of a well maintained car, it doesn't look it's age.

FYI, the only wax I ever used on it was $10. Nu Finish, applied every Spring and touched up any chips. People were always asking if I ever had it repainted, that's how good it looked. A little TLC and get the salt off with a proper wash as soon as temperature allows.

Have you considered a car shelter? Although some city bylaws will not allow it.

A full cover will abrade the finish as it rubs the body in the breeze. I've spent too many days buffing out my boats covered this way for the winter to consider covering the S2000 in this way. Toss up whether this damage is worse then the dirt and sun damage. The critical part is the roof and window area as the sun will damage the fabric and interior. There are covers that will protect this area that don't rub on the bodywork.

My car is covered during winter storage. Indoor storage.

I think Joey is talking about covering up his new Civic, not his S2000 from what I understand

Cover craft weather shield HP, I use it for my s2000 as they're custom
Fit, breathable, waterproof, and UV repellant. I spent $275 for it

Why is someone writing about a Civic on this forum?
