Just got my first S2K and noticed when the hood was up the contour above the rear window sagged. I found a pivoting support attached to a main support above the drivers seat that rotates back to the top of the rear window. The rotating support has springs that pull it forward to the main support and two straps which are not attached to anything. Are these the straps being discussed? It seems like they should attach somewhere in the hood storage and pull the rotating suppot backward when the hood is closed, but I can find nothing within their length to attach to. They also don't seem alastic. Any knowledge of this? Thanks in advance.

I think that may be your problem.

It fixed it without pulling the compartment shell. I pushed the support back to where it should be with the hood raised and located where the strap would be anchored. Then I bored a hole in the compartment shell and anchored the straps with a smooth head machine screw. It works well and is cosmetically ok, now if it holds.

Love this car, but they don't have much room to work in do they.

At 12 inches it doesn't seem there is a lot of tension on these elastic straps when the top is up. It seems that heavy elastic with Velcro glued, or better sewn to it would be an easier solution and allow adjustment. I'm getting ready to do mine, but I don't see how the latch hooks can tear the top.

See this excellent thread: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/101...how-to-fix-it/

Or, I bought these from Ebay and use two of them for a really simple fix: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Elastic-...item20bbd37673

Thanks lovegroova, Ebay straps ordered. Seems an easier and cheaper solution and a bonus of one strap left over for wardrobe maulfunctions

Any chance to get the pictures re-uploaded? :S

@edit: oh saw the new thread. So this helps the soft top to fold itself as well as increases the durability ? I somewhere read that the soft top is running over a metal edge which causes damaged to the top as well ?
