Default Registering a car

We recently bought a second car as a runaround for Jenny and to try to keep some of the miles off the S/whatever I might replace it with.

On coming to complete the V5 yesterday to send it to Swansea to notify them of the change of ownership, I noticed that the form says that it needs to be signed by both the current registered keeper AND the new keeper.

We bought the car from a used car dealer. They had stamped the bit that the new owner retains but the car is still registered in the name of the previous owner and she has not signed the V5. I completely forgot to check this on collecting the car

I assume if we send the V5 back with just Jenny's signature on it will get bounced back. Now they have the money, I can't see the dealer being arsed to do anything about it If worst comes to absolute worst, I can try to contact the former owner at the address on the V5 and see whether I can make arrangements to get her to sign it, but TBH I could do without all that faff.

Anyone have any experience of this, or ideas....?

Can't you just add some scribble on the relevant box? Naughty but easy and quick?

Hmm, never had a problem previously. Used to happen all the time. Whether they've changed the guidelines/rules recently is anyones guess.
Send it & see what happens.

Considered that, Rich - I suspect that the drones at DVLA don't really bother to scrutinise the seller's signature and compare it with that when they submitted the V5 to put it into their name to begin with. And we do have a credit card slip with her signature on attached to one of the service sheets, so we know what it looks like

But I'd prefer to exhaust the "legit" options first!

That's reassuring to know. Think I'll give that a go then.

Just send it off - they only want an address to send all the tickets to
