Starting With a Vision

The long and challenging process of completing a project car can seem like a never-ending spiral. And that's why having a clear vision for a project makes all the difference. The most successful builds are those that start will a defined goal. When Amrit Soos began building his 2008 Honda S2000 CR, he knew just what he wanted to do.

Fast AND Drivable

No stranger to modifying Hondas, Soos had already built his Integra into a fire-breathing 900-horspower monster. But he knew the overwhelming power and straight-line optimization didn't make for an easy daily driver. So with the Club Racer, what he wanted to create was a powerful car that he could drive every day, and have top-notch handing.

Perfect Platform

And the platform provided by the S2000 CR was the perfect starting point. With improvements upon the already-capable base S2000 from the factory, the stock Club Racer still holds up to this day as one of the best handling cars on the road. So the one aspect of the car performance that Soos really needed to focus his attention and effort on was under the hood.

Turbocharger F22C

A turbocharged setup was the path Soos chose for extracting the desired power from the F22C. And it was a relatively easy decision, given his prior experience turbocharging the Integra. Not much was altered in the already capable 4-cylinder motor, aside from the implementation of a 3mm head gasket and ARP head for added sturdiness.

Thirsty Mill

With the addition of the Garrett GT3582R turbo, the fuel-injection system had to be improved to provide enough juice for the thirsty power unit. The issue then was getting the ECU to comply with the significantly higher amount of power production. And for that, this build relies on a Hondata K-PRO kit that is connected to the factory ECU with an adapter harness, controlling the throttle by wire command.

Black and Gold

With all 500 horses in pace, it was time to turn the attention to the body. In his search for lightweight, exotic materials and parts, Soos came across Downforce USA's catalog of S2000 parts, which included front fenders, side skirts, and a rear diffusor. The gold color these parts came in inspired the theme for the rest of the build. A gold bolt-on roll case and gold upholstery accents complete the look of the interior. Time will tell how this beast will evolve, but for now, it continues to be a show-stealer.
