Aftermath of Massive S2000 Crash

The Honda S2000 is undoubtedly one of the most rewarding cars to drive on the track. The lively engine, perfect weight balance, and advantageous driving dynamics make it an excellent base for racing. Unfortunately, that also means many of these beautiful machines are regularly victims of track incidents. This video shows the aftermath of one such incident. Thankfully, the driver walked away.

S2000 Loses Control at NJMP Thunderbolt

This particular driver was having a great track day before he lost traction coming out of a high-speed corner, which caused him to go for a long and fast slide before hitting the front of the car hard against the barrier. The couple of seconds between when he lost control and when the car crashed must have felt like days. Watch the video here.

BMW Crashes Into S2000 at Carolina Motorsports Park

This helmet cam video shows the driver of the S2000 flowing nicely around the chicane at Carolina Motorsports Park before a huge and shocking hit from the passenger side derails it, ruining the car in the process. It's not shown in the video, but the vehicle that crashed into the S2000 was reportedly a BMW E30. 

S2000 Driver Understeers Off Track at Atlanta Motorsports Park

Another S2000 losing traction coming out of a fast right-hand corner, the driver of this Honda essentially becomes a passenger as the car performs a long slide before hitting the front left corner against the wall, which causes it to bounce and hit the rear as well. The airbags did not go off in this particular crash, which could have been a lot more disastrous than it was. Watch the lap here.

S2000 Goes Off Track and Crashes at Road Atlanta

In this case, the loss of control seems to have been caused after the car bounced over the curb, which forced the driver to overshoot the next turn and go onto the grass. In coming back onto the pavement, he appears to be lacking traction and an overcorrection causes the car to slide left and hit very hard head-first against the concrete.
