Rivals Becoming Allies

Once fierce rivals on the track and pretty much any other setting in which they met, Anthony Le and Doug Jenkins came to put their minds together to help progress each other's work as the years passed. And when Le got the itch to build another street-class racer, it was Jenkins and his resources at his shop Power Pros that pushed Le to pull the trigger.

Collaborating on a Turbo Build

As Le struggled internally to justify the expense, Jenkins made things easy for him. He offered to help build a powerful turbocharged set up, if Le could come up with a proper chassis. It was an offer Le simply couldn't refuse. And once the nice 2001 DC2 Integra was sourced, the work began immediately.

Chassis of Choice

To achieve the type of numbers the team of former rivals was looking for, forced induction on its own was not going to suffice. With that in mind, the folks at Power Pros went to work improving every aspect of the B18C1 block they had sourced from an Integra GSR. Everything from the cylinder heads to pistons was enhanced for strenuous usage and higher efficiency.

Adding Boost

Then, it was time to add in the forced induction. A Precision GT3567R ball-bearing turbocharger helps boost the reworked motor. Hidden down by the radiator, the turbo is fed hot exhaust gases through a Power Pros equal-length stainless-steel exhaust manifold. It breathes out through a Power Pros custom three-inch downpipe and custom three-inch exhaust, and out of a Magnaflow muffler.

Drivetrain Upgrades

An upgraded powertrain needs an upgraded drivetrain. The stock transmission remains in place, improved by the addition of a Competition Clutch twin-disc clutch. The factory differential has also been replaced with a more heavy-duty unit, naturally. A Quaife torque-biasing differential ensures power is transferred to the wheels efficiently.

Classy Wheels

Speaking of the wheels, Le's choice in this department was a set of 15×6.5-inch Regamaster Evo wheels wrapped in Falken Azenis tires in a 205/50R15. The Integra rides on Progress Technology adjustable coilovers at all four corners.

Subtle Cosmetic Mods

With the performance all figured out, the team's attention was turned to the cosmetic side of things. No crazy modifications or custom body kits here, and that's by design. Le opted for a facelift, replacing the fascia with a Japanese Integra Type-R front end. The other noteworthy mod would have to be the Japanese-spec Recaro SRD front seats and rear seats.

Quite the Sleeper

Running 24 lbs of boost and with a fuel blend of 91-octane and VP Racing Q16 race fuel, the Integra was able to hit 603 horsepower and 388 lb-ft of torque on the dyno. With the relatively simple and visually moderate setup, the build serves as a true sleeper, and in the best way imaginable.
