All Killer No Filler AP2 Track Build

Cars bring people together and can bring gaps of language and land like nothing for decades upon decades.

Great cars are Rosetta Stones

Brendan got his car a few years ago from one of the local racing drivers in Singapore where he lives. The car was bought and built to be a racing vehicle but the track development went bankrupt and needed to offload the AP2. The car has a J's Racing carbon fiber hood and trunk but painted over as to not take away anything from the car's appearance. The mindset that was had concerning the paint was that the carbon fiber is painted over then the worth will be as much as an FRP one in resale value.

Great cars are Rosetta stones

In order to fit the 9-inch wide Wedssport SA-55Ms in, the front fenders were pulled at a professional craftsmanship guru dealing with bodywork in the Northern part of Singapore. +36 offset was chosen up front encompassing the titanium 6 pot Rotora Clubsport calipers pairing with 355mm discs to fill every gap in that 18-inch wheel.

Making things a little wider

A set of Spoon rear over-fenders allows a +20 offset with wide 265/35 FK452s to achieve a flush, practical stance. To most, a lowered car may not be practical in Singapore with the horrendously built roads giving a very unforgiving drive for anyone who dares to traverse there. To make things worse is that Singapore is home to the “longest subterranean road tunnel in South-East Asia”. Some people have proclaimed that you are driving on more of a subterranean surface rather than a normal road.

The best suspension is a tuned suspension

When Brendan’s S2000 was put on Quantum Racing RS 3-way Adjustable Coilovers with custom Swift springs, he knew the axles will be stretched causing some faster wear and tear on the ball joints but he was okay with that. The next step was having Megan Racing’s axle spacers fitted to bring the axle back to its stock length when the car is lowered. Handling is never compromised in his theory by running Ikeya Formula’s front and rear control arms, tie rod ends and rear undercarriage bars with a hand-built custom subframe. Other go-fast bits making the handling crisper are the Cusco 1.5 way limited-slip differential, and J’s Racing tower strut bars to strengthen the chassis.

Keeping things NA

The car is as responsive as well as it handles. Brendan has chosen to keep things normally aspirated with a Hondata Flashpro tuned 2.2-liter engine fed with a handcrafted fat tummy intake and expelling the power through a titanium J’s Racing exhaust. No expenses were spared with this car, having rebuilt it even after driving 20,000km till now, and adding a Koyorad triple-core radiator with Elites hoses, and not forgetting a Cusco oil catch tank accompanied with a secondary breather tank.

On the inside

Inside the cabin, a Recaro RS-G accompanied with Spoon Sports steering and gear knob are found that made the trip over from his Civic EK4 Sedan. Up front, a Defi-Link VSD display keeps the number of gauges down to a minimum.

This S2000 is a great mix of what a pro-streetcar would be and we tip our hats to Brendan and look forward to what he builds in the future.
