Detailed Plan

Rumors of an S2000 revival have swirled for years and recently resurfaced once again. However, nobody outside of Honda really knows if the beloved roadster will ever make a comeback, but it's always fun to imagine what it might look like if it did. The latest concept comes to us from artist Somak Biswas, who came up with a rather detailed plan for a new S2000 and posted it over at Behance.

New Rivals

Biswas imagines the new S2000 as a rival to the BMW Z4 and Porsche 718 Boxster, but interestingly enough, doesn't mention the Mazda Miata - the S2000's traditional rival. This is because his idea for a new S2000 would come equipped with the new Civic Type R's turbocharged mill, which would give it some serious performance.

Looks Familiar

The overall design of this imaginary S2000 is similar to the one we all know and love, with a long hood and aggressive stance. However, the look is much more modern and adopts styling cues from the 2022 Honda Civic prototype that was revealed late last year, particularly its headlights, intakes, and front grille.

Type R Version

Biswas also came up with a slightly more aggressive look for a proposed Type R version of his future S2000, which wears more aggressive bodywork including side skirts, a rear wing, and some red accents to set it all off.

Futuristic Interior

The interior of this S2000 concept is quite futuristic as well, as it contains a "mood bar" that acts as a soundbar, air vents, and ambient lighting along with a stepped form center console and an infotainment system designed to be easy to reach and operate.

True to Form

Biswas imagines the S2000 returning for the 2024 model year, which would represent the model's 25th anniversary. It would retain much of the original's spirit and the traditional rear-wheel-drive, manual transmission-equipped roadster format, however, which is a far cry from those that think the car will return as an EV.

Realistic Expectations

Personally, we're digging Biswas's idea for an S2000 revival, and it certainly seems like a viable vehicle. However, we've gotten our hopes up several times in the past, and this time, we're just going to remind ourselves that this is only the idea of a talented artist, and nothing else.
