Cheap Rebuilt Title S2000 Is a 'Milli Vanilli' Build

Here's one build thread where the bulk of the work isn't being done by an S2Ki member, but it's no lip sync job, either.

All or Nothing

Those of us who've been around a while remember the massive controversy that was Milli Vanilli. The two-man band took over the music world for a short time, cranking out hit after hit before it was discovered that they weren't the ones actually singing their songs. So we found it quite humorous that S2Ki member Rockweiler used this obscure musical reference when referring to his very cool S2000 build in progress

Second Time Around

This new project is actually the OP's second S2000, the sequel to a low-mile Rio Yellow car that he still owns. This new ride was picked up with a rebuilt title on the cheap, so obviously, more liberties can be taken without feeling guilty. Thus, the OP took his ideas and his car to Powersports Garage at Calabogie Motorsports Park near Ottawa, Canada for a complete transformation.

Extreme Makeover

"The objective is to make this a serious track weapon that I can still drive to and from the track, and occasionally on the weekends," the OP said. To that end, a big part of the build focuses on brakes and suspension upgrades. But the exterior was going to receive its own major upgrades, with a Shine hard top and APR widebody kit.

Decisions, Decisions

The paint and bodywork were actually the first things to be completed. Meanwhile, a new roll bar was fabricated, along with a rear closeout panel. But with just a placeholder set of wheels and tires in place, the OP was having a hard time deciding on which ones he wanted to go with.

Easy Decision

That decision was settled when the builder just so happened to have a set of Enkei PF01 wheels in stock that someone had ordered and then canceled. He then took the money he saved on the wheels and invested it into a nice new set of Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires.

Purpose Built

At this point, the car was coming together rather nicely. "I want to build an S2K capable of running with the big boys," the OP said. "I want to match or better my numbers around Calabogie Motorsports Park (CMP) from my stock ‘16 GT4 (sold) and also stock ‘18 GT3 (for sale!), in a car that is still streetable. CMP is a handling rather than a high-speed circuit, so the S2K platform has a shot."

Stay Tuned

Funny enough, the OP admits that this car is turning out so nice it might wind up being more of a showpiece than a track demon. But that's just a testament to the skills of the builder. We can't wait to see this machine come together, and it doesn't look like we'll have to wait much longer. So be sure and head over here to stay tuned for future updates!
