Perfect Pairing

Old British sports cars are undeniably charming, but at the same time, have a bit of a reputation for being unreliable, for the most part. The obvious solution to that problem is an engine swap, and in the case of this 1970 Morgan Plus Four that recently crossed the block at Bring a Trailer, Honda's legendary F20C powerplant from the S2000.

Highly Modified

This isn't just some straight-up F20C swap, however - the Morgan's body was modified to fit on top of an entire S2000 chassis, which has also been modified. From the outside, you'd be hard-pressed to tell, as this dark blue beauty retains all of its vintage charm.

Vintage Goodness

There are a few clues that this isn't an original machine, however, including the addition of mirrors and a front bumper from a Morgan 8. Otherwise, it's simply dripping with vintage goodness, with details like a tan soft top, rear bumperettes, side curtains, and curvy fenders with running boards.

Various Upgrades

Pop the hood, however, and it's a completely different story. This donor engine came from an AP1 with just 62k miles on the clock and has been treated to some upgrades including a wrapped header, custom aluminum radiator, Magnaflow muffler, custom aluminum fuel cell, and a Morgan crest on the valve cover to try and fool the unknowing.

New and Old

The interior also mixes new and old with recovered S2000 seats with Morgan embroidery, a wooden dash, roll bar, polished pedals, dash-mounted rear-view mirror, carpeted package shelf, a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel with a Morgan center cap, and Classic Instruments gauges.

Underneath the Surface

Power flows through a six-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels via a limited-slip transmission, all of which came from the donor S2000. The double-wishbone suspension has been upgraded with parts from Koni and Bilstein, while the four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes are S2000 parts as well. The build is capped off with a set of custom 16-inch billet aluminum wheels wrapped with 205/55 Michelin Primacy HP tires.
