Trickling Down

Honda has long enjoyed deep ties with motorsports, building race cars, competing in various series, and trickling that technology down to its road cars. Soichiro Honda even built his own test track - the Suzuka International Racing Course (or Suzuka Circuit) - in the early '60s. That 3.8-mile track has been used as a proving ground and the site of many actual races, and it also lent its name to a popular paint color on the beloved S2000, of course.

Nice Example

This particular Suzuka Blue 2005 S2000 that recently sold over at Classic Cars is a nice example of that breed, as well as a great-looking car overall. It has around 88,000 miles on the clock, which isn't a lot, and looks like it has far less than that.

Taking Care

At least part of that can be attributed to the fact that the car was owned by an older gentleman for around 11 years. Over that time frame, it was kept in perfectly original condition, which includes retaining the OEM hard top.

Gem of a Find

Needless to say, today's market is hungry for cars like this. There's just something about a clean, stock S2000 that attracts buyers like bees to flowers in the spring. With a full history and extensive maintenance records, this is certainly a gem of a find.

Reasonably Priced

This particular car was up for grabs with a price tag of $19,998 and didn't last long. That seems like a reasonable deal given the condition and pedigree of the car, and an attractive shade of blue never hurts, either.

Enduring Excellence

S2000s, in general, aren't terribly rare by any means, and there are lots of clean, low-mile examples out there. But it's clear that buyers are willing to pay a premium for them regardless, which is a true testament to their enduring excellence.

Soulful Machine

That phenomenon doesn't figure to end any time soon, either. As cars become increasingly saddled with driver and safety aids, automatic transmissions, and boring, characterless engines, pure driving machines like this will only become more desirable. And probably more expensive.
