"Driver" Grade S2000s are the Next Solid Investment

Nice, low-mile examples have already become mostly unaffordable.

Moving On

As most are already well aware, Honda S2000 prices have been on the rise for years now, and the recent surge in collector car prices (and cars in general) hasn't helped matters one bit. It can be quite difficult to find a good deal on an S2000 of any kind these days, as well as impossible when you're talking about nice, low-mile examples. That leaves us with the next big pricing boom - driver-grade examples of Honda's iconic roadster.

Next Best Thing

There are still plenty of nice driver-grade S2000s out there that don't have what one might consider high mileage, but perhaps a bit more than the ones that are commanding crazy money at auctions these days. At the same time, driver-grade cars may not be perfect, but they're nice enough to show off at the local cars and coffee.

Priced Out

We're talking about cars that have anywhere from 60-100k miles on the clock, the types that show some wear and tear, but nothing major. These are the cars that collectors typically shun, but they're also gaining in value as the nice stuff gets priced out of most people's range of affordability.

Appreciating Asset

We've seen cars like this - with replacement parts, seat bolster wear, and perhaps even non-original modifications sell in the mid-$20k range lately, which is still high compared to what prices used to be, but also affordable for most folks who simply want something they can drive and enjoy that will also steadily gain in value.

Hindsight is 20/20

As the collector-grade examples dry up and soar to ridiculous new levels of value, collectors will seek out the next best thing, and that's driver-grade S2000s. Scoring one now will ensure that you're ahead of the pack and that you won't be caught by surprise, which has been the case with nice cars in recent years. Most of us are kicking ourselves for not buying something like a nice Club Racer years ago, after all.

Built to be Driven

Plus, who doesn't want to own something they can actually drive and don't have to worry about adding mileage to? Top-notch collector cars must be stored away and pampered like priceless artifacts, and that's not something that we're particularly interested in doing.

Getting Ahead

The ship has certainly sailed in terms of affordable, low-mile S2000s, so now is the perfect time to get in on the next best thing. So pool that cash together and get out and purchase a nice but not perfect S2000, because soon, you'll be kicking yourself for not being ahead of the crowd.
