Start of Something Big

Whether you're a fan of the Fast and Furious franchise or not, there's no denying the fact that these movies have turned more than a few people on to the automotive enthusiast hobby. That includes Edmonton, Alberta resident Jorge Acosta, who originally fell in love with the green Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Paul Walker in the first movie, a car that he replicated three years ago. Little did he know at the time that this build would lead to many, many more, as he explained to Roads Untraveled in this interesting video.

Plans Go Awry

Today, Acosta has a whopping 24 F&F replicas in his collection, a mind-blowing figure for even the most hardcore car nuts out there in the world. Acosta never really planned on owning that many cars - it just sort of happened, as he explained to Roads Untraveled. "I didn't want to have the largest Fast and Furious car collection in the world on purpose, right? But then I started getting excited."

Growing Stable

Today, that collection has grown to include such classics as the legendary black Dodge Charger, Nissan Skyline GT-R, Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7, an Evo, WRX STi, the more obscure but highly beloved F-150 Lightning, and of course, a Honda S2000, just to name a few.

Head First

Acosta says that he was completely obsessed with the movie cars from the first time he saw the first race in the first film. After that, he fell into the world of Craig Lieberman, the original F&F technical advisor and car-finder, who has since published a series of videos telling the stories of those cars and how they came to be.

Solid Number

It was then that he discovered there was a whole community of Fast and Furious replica car builders out there in the world, many of whom own several vehicles. But no one can claim to owning nearly as many as Acosta, who plans on eventually having a total of 35 in his collection before he stops.

Flipping for Cars

If all of that isn't interesting enough, the method with which Acosta acquired the funds for some of his builds is pretty fascinating, too. He has imported several cars from Japan and flipped them to generate the funds necessary to fuel his obsession, which obviously isn't cheap. He admits that some of the parts required, like rare body kits, take quite a bit of time, effort, and dough to acquire.

Don't Stop

Acosta admits that he needs to stop adding cars to his collection eventually, especially since his wife has seemingly had her fill of his hobby. But somehow, we doubt that he'll stop at that predetermined number of 35. And in our humble opinion, if you've got the means to do so, why not build the world's largest collection of cars you love?
