Throw Me a Bone

It might seem hard to fathom, but the legendary Gran Turismo series has been around since 1997. Over the last 20+ years, many of us have found plenty of automotive-focused motivation playing these excellent, realistic video games. And now, GT is throwing us JDM car fans a bone with a new update for Gran Turismo Sport, which debuted back in the fall of 2017.

JDM Selection

We're most excited that one of those five cars, of course, is the Honda S2000. In this case, a 1999 model. The other four additions are the Nissan Silvia K's Dia Selection, Toyota Corolla Levin 3door 1600GT APEX, Subaru Impreza Coupe WRX Type R STi Version VI, and Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo. All of which have their own unique attributes.

Interesting Choices

The Mitsubishi is an interesting choice, as the JDM version actually packs less horsepower (276) than either the Euro (282) or North American (300) versions. The Subie, on the other hand, is a car with a short production run of 1,000 units, and it's widely considered the ultimate variant of the first-gen Impreza.

Wet and Wild

This particular version of the Silvia has been in every main version of Gran Turismo since GT2 (except GT3: A-Spec), so this isn't exactly its first rodeo. In addition, this new update also adds wet modes to the Red Bull Ring and Red Bull Ring Short Track circuits for a little slippery fun.

Comeback

Finally, we have the apple of our proverbial eye, the Honda S2000. This isn't the classic roadster's first appearance in the Gran Turismo series either, of course. Like the Silvia, it too has appeared in every main version of the game since GT 2 first arrived on the scene many years ago.

Righting a Wrong

Thus, fans were pretty surprised to learn that the S2000 wasn't available when Gran Turismo Sport debuted back in October of 2017. Now, finally, the game's developers have righted that wrong by offering the car in this most recent update with SPEC II.

Decisions, Decisions

This update is free, but for those wanting to purchase the S2000 can do so in the Honda section of Brand Central for 34,000 credits. Color choices consist of Berlina Black, Silverstone Metallic, Monte Carlo Blue Pearl, Grand Prix White, Indy Yellow Pearl, and New Formula Red. So if you're looking to polish up your virtual driving skills, this one's obviously well worth the download!
