Honda S2000 with 2K Original Miles Hammers for $47K

In the current market, this super clean S2000 might just be a bit of a value even though it sold for a large sum of money.

Good Deal?

These days, low-mile S2000s seem to be popping up like those fake furry woodland creatures in a game of whack-a-mole. Most of them selling for incredible sums of money. But with a hammer price of $47k, this pristine '08 that sold at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas might actually represent a good deal in today's market.

Bad Strategy

Judging by the selling prices we've seen on similar cars in recent months, we really can't blame the seller of this particular S2000 for going with a no-reserve auction. But this time around, that strategy surprisingly didn't pay off for the seller. Still, we doubt he didn't walk away with a healthy profit.

Interesting History

Interestingly, this particular car wasn't just bought and stored away by some private citizens. In fact, it was actually owned by Honda and displayed at its Ohio museum for many years. Last year, Honda raffled the car off to one lucky employee, who was the very first person to register it for road use.

Big Dilemma

This S2000's "first" owner was certainly a lucky fellow, snagging a brand new classic for free. But now, with just 2,045 miles on the clock, they decided to part ways with it. And we certainly can't blame them, since these low-mileage cars present a bit of a dilemma for those that own them.

Museum Piece

It's easy to say that we'd just drive a car like this and keep it in great shape, but doing so kills the car's value with every tick of the odometer. Not to mention the risks we take driving any car on public roads. For some, this may not matter, but a car like this probably belongs in a museum somewhere.

Carefully Maintained

Luckily, the seller kept this beautiful Honda in perfectly original shape. Everything, down to the radio and even the tires, is exactly as it was when the car was originally built. The seller also stored the S2000 in a garage under a factory car cover during their year-plus of ownership.

Bright Side

Owning a car like this is certainly a dilemma, but we hope the seller can use part of their new funds to buy a higher-mileage, less-historically important S2000. Then, they can drive and enjoy it as Honda originally intended without worrying about somebody plowing into the side of it at an intersection.

Rare Find

How high low-mile S2000 prices inevitably go is pretty hard to predict. But we imagine that as the years go by and cars like this simply cease to exist, we'll see some pretty lofty values. But for now, at least, it's nice to see that there are a few "bargains" still out there in the world.
