Honda Still Owns This Incredibly Cool See-Through S2000
Like some sort of old school Playstation controller, this transparent S2000 recently emerged from storage, much to our delight.
Resurfacing
No, you aren't seeing things. This see-through S2000 recently surfaced at an annual owner's meeting at Twin Ring Motegi in Japan, and it's got quite the interesting backstory. Honda built the car back when its now-legendary model debuted in 1999, bringing it to various car shows to place the S2000's mechanicals on full display. And apparently, they've kept it in their vault all these years.

Star of the Show
The purpose of the owner's meeting was to celebrate the S2000's 20-year anniversary, and it included a host of Honda engineers and plenty of cars that participated in a show and shine and parade laps. But the star of the event, in our humble opinion, was this former showpiece.

Total Mystery
Unfortunately, there isn't a ton of information on this little piece of history out there in the world. According to this article from Tire Meets Road, the transparent S2000 wasn't at the Geneva Motor Show in 1999 when Honda revealed the car to the world.

Verified Stop
S2000.com does mention in this article that the special show car was present in Taiwan for the Taipei Motor Show, however. But other than that, we just don't know much about its origin or its travels.

Helping Hand
Thankfully, there were a few folks on hand at the owner's meeting that captured some photos of this mysterious car for us. Most of which came from the aptly named Facebook group Rad Shi**y Grainy pictures of Japanese Cars from the ’80s, ’90s and ’00s.

Just For Show
Japanese Twitter user S2000 also captured a couple of pics of the S2000's door and interior for us to drool over. This sheds a little more light on the car, as we can see that the interior is lacking quite a few parts, including the passenger seat.

Alive and Well
Like most show cars, we're guessing this S2000 is just for, well, show. But that doesn't make it any less cool in our book. And above all, we're glad to see that Honda has kept this transparent machine alive and well all these years!
