Low-Mile AP1 S2000 a Very Early U.S. Market Example

It seems like low-mile Honda S2000 examples are a dime a dozen these days, but this one's got a unique claim to fame.

Claim to Fame

These days, there are plenty of clean, low-mile Honda S2000s out there in the world. But they're typically pretty much all the same. The only real variances include whether or not they're an AP1 or AP2, a Club Racer or not, and what color combo they possess. But this AP1 that recently popped up at Bring a Trailer has another interesting claim to fame as well.

Early Production

As we all know, 2000 was the first model year the S2000 was sold in the U.S. And this particular car is one of the very first off the assembly line that made it to our shores. It's number 225, in fact, which makes it pretty interesting. But there's obviously more to like here than just that early production number.

Short Travels

This S2000 also has a mere 36k miles on the odometer, and it's in pretty outstanding condition as a result. The seller acquired the car some months ago and has reportedly only added around 100 miles to that total. And as you might imagine, it comes with a full host of documentation, service records, and factory manuals.

Slight Mishap

That documentation includes a CarFax, which unfortunately reveals that the car was involved in an accident. Someone sideswiped the car, which necessitated the replacement of a front fender. But that's nothing that would necessarily scare us away from adding it to our own garage.

Hunker Down

Outside of that, there aren't too many blemishes to point out on this Silverstone beauty. Most everything here is original, save for a set of aftermarket lowering springs that hunker the car down over its factory wheels. Nothing too outrageous, thankfully.

Aftermarket Additions

The black interior looks to be in fantastic condition, with little wear and tear. The factory radio has been replaced with a Kenwood unit, which is typical in older cars. Other additions include Polk speakers for improved sound, along with a short-throw shifter for easier operation.

Stock and Clean

Pop the hood, and you'll find a very clean engine bay that's obviously been detailed recently. But there's no sign of damage, nor any aftermarket mishaps taking place here. If you crawl under the car, you will find a Greddy cat-back exhaust, however. But we certainly won't deduct points for that.

Future Collectible

Ultimately, this car sold for just over $15k, which seems like a very good deal. We're just getting to the point where these cars are becoming collectible, which means that things like an early production number don't really add a ton of value. But we're willing to bet that it won't be long before cars like this one are highly coveted.
