S660

Honda's last remaining roadster in production, the S660 has been viewed for years as the S2000's little brother. And while the Kei sports car doesn't quite meet the lofty standards of the average American sports car buyer in terms of performance, the nimble, go-kart-like package is still attractive to many enthusiasts. And now even more so, with this Mugen kit.

Mugen Kit

The Japan-only roadster has received upgrades courtesy of Mugen that not only give it a more aggressive look but also improve handling performance. The kit includes a modified front fascia, side skirts, an all-new rear bumper cover, as well as subtle customizations like the vented hood, the rear wing, and the custom staggered wheels.

Aggressive Style

At the front, the significantly more aggressive face is enhanced by the low-to-the-ground front splitter. The graphic continues down the side with the side skirts that lead into a cosmetic air intake ahead of the rear wheels. The 8-spoke wheel design also adds a sense of sportiness. Measuring 15 inches at the front and 16 inches at the rear, they give the car a nice forward-leaning stance as well.

Homogenous Style

At the back, the new bumper cover features creases on the sides and an integrated rear diffusor at the bottom that replaces the large black plastic graphic on the stock S660. What's amazing about the body kit is that it's very much in harmony with the style of the car. It wouldn't be far-fetched to think that this would be a sporty OEM trim for the roadster.

Improved Chassis Stiffness

Japan's Kei car class is limited in terms of engine capacity to 660 cc. And the S660's turbocharged 3-cylinder producing a mere 63 horsepower has not been altered by Mugen. What they do offer in terms of performance upgrades, however, is a chassis damper that is meant to increase stiffness. This results in better handling and reduced vibrations and noise.
