New Look for the CIvic

Honda unveiled their newly re-designed Civic last week. And it's pretty safe to say that the reaction has been mixed. While it is worth noting that the 2022 Honda Civic prototype you see here is actually based on the same architecture as the current model. Which means, this is technically not an entirely new Civic, but rather a very thorough facelift.

Front Fascia

At the front, there is a simplified version of the signature Honda fascia. According to Honda designers, the update is meant to give the car a meaner look up front. Honda products, and especially the Civic, have been the recipients of criticism when it comes to the usage of blacked-out graphics. And it looks to us like that trend is set to continue with the new model.

Rear Design

The update at the rear is said to aim at giving the car a wider look. The new larger and longer taillights certainly do that. Weirdly, however, it is not difficult to see some slight resemblance to the VW Jetta in the rear fascia.

New Profile

The design of the new 2022 Honda Civic prototype has stepped away from the unique characteristics that made the current Civic different from its competitors. Instead, we get a more streamlined styling, with features and character lines that have basically become the standard in the automotive industry today.

Interior and Tech Upgrades

Not much has been announced about the specifics of the interior design, tech, and safety features. All we have so far is this sketch of the dashboard. The new design will have hints of the popular Honda E's minimalistic interior look. The new Civic will also have a larger center screen, an LED screen gauge cluster, and a number of new safety features.

What do you think of the re-designed Civic? Is it a welcomed step up? Or a bit too much of the safe side?

On an unrelated note, where the hell is a new roadster at, Honda?!
