Perfect Vision

Like many other members, Spoon Fed quickly found himself enamored with the many build threads in the S2Ki forums. Something about watching a car transform is just mesmerizing, we know. So he decided to contribute his own AP1's transformation in this thread, including his own journey to buy and build what he felt was the "perfect vision" of an S2000.

Massive Mistake

The OP's first S2000 was an '01 Spa Yellow car that was in fantastic condition when he found it. He spent some time transforming it into his personal dream car. But then, he made a massive mistake. "So in 2010 I had the bright idea to sell the car (my biggest life regret) to help with a down payment on a house," he said. "At the time I figured I'd get another one in a year or so. Boy was I wrong. As each year passed, I found 'more important things' to invest my money in."

Coming Home

So in 2017, he began searching for a suitable replacement. Problem was, every car he came across for sale was either modified or in pretty bad shape. Until he stumbled across an NFR '00 with just 2,800 miles on the clock. He made the two-hour drive to look at the car, and it was everything the ad said it was. So home it came.

Making It Perfect

The new S2000 had barely made it to the garage before the OP started making it perfect. That started with a paint correction and interior detail. Then some new tires and a Spoon air duct. And of course, a total fluid change. Then, he addressed the notorious AP1 retainer issue.

Suspension Overhaul

A group buy presented the perfect opportunity to jump on a set of Volk bronze 17x9.5+50 CE28N wheels. But the buying spree wasn't finished yet. The OP also picked up an FK8 shift knob, Spoon 710 cap, and Spoon subframe, rigid collars, bump steer kit, and axle spacers. Along with, of course, Ohlins coilovers.

Finishing Touches

He then scored a BNIB OEM lip, which was Silverstone, but that was nothing a little paint couldn't fix. Little by little, other details were taken care of, including new weatherstripping, Spoon calipers, an OEM hardtop, and a Cleib 70mm single exhaust with a Toda 60mm ~ 70mm test pipe. And at this point, the car sure seemed finished.

Stay Tuned

But are these projects ever really finished? History tells us, not really. We expect to see some more updates on this beautiful car in the future if the past is any indication. So be sure and head over here to stay tuned for what's to come!
