Capable Platform

There is no denying the amazing capabilities of the Civic Type R. Whether it's on the street, a road course, or the race track, the Type R has proven that it can wipe the floor with the competition. And with a platform so great, many people like to take the hot hatch one step further and turn the track day beast into a full-on race car.

Trust the Experts

And sure, you can get to work and try to build your own Civic Type R race car. You can use trial and error to get the right aero balance. You can tune the engine, adjust the suspension setup, and build your own roll cage into the cabin. Or, you could trust the people who know every inch of the Civic inside and out to build a race-spec version of the Type R for you.

Race-Spec Type R

That's right! Honda Performance Development (HPD) will take the stock Civic Type R, work their magic, and hand you a racing car up to the regulations of SRO Motorsport Touring Class (TC) as well as the SCCA's T2 class. The Honda Civic Type R TC has upgrades in every department. It comes with more power, a stripped-out interior, racing suspension, and an upgraded transmission.

Major Improvements

The power increase comes courtesy of a racing exhaust and a PCU tune. The third and fourth gear are enhanced with more capable parts, and an upgraded limited-slip differential is used as well. The stock suspension is replaced with a racing setup with spherical metal bushings. Another upgrade is the cooling system, and the brakes will come with new rotors and racing pads. And as mentioned earlier, the interior gets a complete overhaul with racing seats, a racing steering wheel, and a complete roll cage.

Easy to Drive

The majority of the TC's gains on the race track come from the huge weight saving measures in play. Motortrend recently took the Civic race car around the track and they were thoroughly impressed by how well the car behaves in the corners and the amount of traction it affords the driver.

Worth the Price?

Of course, there is a price tag for the race-ready Civic. The Type R TC will be available for $89,900, not including spare parts or service. For those looking for a more affordable racing Civic option, there is the Civic Si TCA for $52,000. And if the Type R TC is not quite enough for you, there is one level above it with the Civic Type R TCR for a whopping $172,238.
